The annual 69th Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday, January 15th in Los Angeles, California, and celebrities looked every bit as stunning as everyone expected. If you're looking for the ultimate glamor look for 2012, take a peek at the following celebrity hairstyles from the much awaited event!Celebrities dazzled on the red carpet on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

Because celebrities want to look their best especially when it comes to highly mediated red carpet events they turn towards the best hairstylists and fashion designers in the industry, making them a great source of inspiration for a new look change. If you're ready to draw inspiration for your next hairdo, take a peek at the best celebrity hairstyles from the 2012 Golden Globes and recreate the hairstyles that best characterize you.

Some of the best seasonal looks that exude a high dose of elegance without looking too sophisticated are loose hairstyles that feature an intense shine and enhanced texture. Luscious glam waves, soft swirly curls and high volume coiffures are definitely a perfect choice when it comes to formal and less formal events as their laid-back, natural style makes them a perfect option for various occasions.

Whether you opt for a high vintage glam waves look such as teen actress Ariel Winter, effortless chic soft curls like Salma Hayek and Jessica Biel or you wish to channel your inner '70s diva like actress Zoey Deschanel, you can't fail with these looks. Keep in mind that a high-shine finish is a definite must when it comes to simple hairstyles as the light which will be reflected by the hair will emphasize the elegance and health of your locks, making them look expensive and glamorous.

One of the best and most classical approach to formal hairstyles is represented by the timeless updo. Updo hairstyles can do wonders for your look as they expose features, the neck and shoulders. There are a variety of gorgeous updo styles to turn towards but it seems that the most popular ones this year are side swept low buns just like Charlize Theron's twisted 'do and loose wavy textured updos just like the hairstyles worn by beauty icons Jessica Alba, Kate Winslet and Emma Stone. These hairstyles are infused with class and romanticism, so you'll be more likely to succeed reaching perfection when turning towards a stylish updo to enhance your beauty and style at a formal event.

Side swept and half up/half down hairstyles are a great option for women who feature a longer hair length, as these hairstyles accentuate the length without causing it to lose its elegance. Styles like Jenna Dewan Tatum's ultra glam side swept coiff, Hannah Simone's clean half up style and Sophia Vergara's side swept hair look red carpet ready if the hair's texture is enhanced to perfection. A few bobby pins placed strategically can dramatically alter your look without too much effort, so no wonder that half up/half down hairstyles are maintaining a top position among the favorite formal hairstyles of celebs.

However, since short hairstyles have managed to cause a stir these past couple of years, actress Michelle Williams shows that a short crop can look seriously glam when accessorized. An embellished, glitzy glam hair accessory can give you a more sophisticated allure, so dare to experiment and make your hair look different every time by playing with various hair accessories.... Experience the Golden Globes through the eyes of a celebrity makeup artist
In Hollywood, January and February are busy times for makeup artists, with shows like the Golden Globes, SAG awards, People’s Choice Awards, and the Oscars all happening at once. Awards show season is something I look forward to every year. It’s a chance to create a look for an actor or actress that will be talked about for months to come.

A couple of months before awards season starts, my hardworking agents book me for the clients that will be attending the shows. Pre-booking appointments is crucial; it ensures that every celeb will have someone on-hand to take care of their hair and makeup. This year, I had two clients that were attending the Golden Globes, and one who was attending the after-parties, where numerous photos would
also be taken.

I spend the night before the awards making sure I have everything ready for the next day: false eyelashes, makeup removers, clean makeup brushes, blotting papers, etc. One of my clients emailed me photos of the dress she was planning on wearing—a beautiful black gown—and I immediately start brainstorming ideas of how I can do her makeup. Of course, I always wait until I see the whole look before deciding on anything; I want to make sure everything works well together.

I start my work day by grabbing a cup of coffee for the road. I get to my first client around 10:30am, and she shows me the gorgeous green dress that she will be wearing. She has fair skin, so I decide to go for a makeup look with brown and gold tones; it will complement the dress very well, and it will work with her skin tone. It takes me about an hour and a half to do her makeup, while we chat about pretty much everything. She’s very happy with the end result. Before I head over to my next job, I make sure she has powder, blotting papers, and touch-up lipstick for the red carpet.

My next client has an appointment at 12:30pm. When I arrive, her hair has already been done, and it looks beautiful. I see the dress she had emailed me pictures of, and it looks even more stunning in person. I decide to keep the eye makeup pretty soft and natural, putting more focus on the lip. Berry-pink lips are really hot right now, so we experiment with different shades until we find the perfect one. The makeup look takes me about an hour and a half to complete. After she puts on her dress, jewelry, and shoes, I check her makeup again. We finish the makeup look with some powder, and I give her some blotting papers and some touch-up lipstick to apply before she walks down the red carpet. I snap a quick picture of her before I leave. She looks amazing!

I have a couple of hours to myself before I head over to Santa Monica, where my last client of the day will be attending a Golden Globes after-party. I’m a bit early, so I set up my makeup and take a look at the dress she will be wearing. It’s a beautiful orange gown. I discuss some ideas with the hairstylist before we start. The hairstylist decides to do a sleek and sexy ponytail, so I opt for a smoky eye and nude lip, to complement the dress and hair. Once my client has her dress on, I reapply some lipstick, spread some anti-shine where it’s needed, and she is out the door.

I head home after a long and eventful day. The first thing I do is log onto my computer to see all the images of my clients on the red carpet. They all look amazing, and I’m very happy. I call my agent to find out what other jobs I have coming up this week. We still have a few more awards shows this month, and the bookings are already coming in!... READ MORE
