In its October 22 issue, weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun, posted results from a survey of 1,000 Japanese women. The topic? Their least favorite woman. For the third year in a row, exiled half-French, half-Japanese actress Erika Sawajiri took the number-one spot.

The last three years have not been kind to Sawajiri. She was forced to take a 'break' from her career after the brouhaha that erupted when she refused to say anything other than "Betsu ni" ("Not really") at the press conference for her film "Closed Note" in September 2007. In September of this year, she was rumored to be penciled in for a part in the new live-action version of "Space Battleship Yamamoto" but instead lost the role ... and her contract with powerful management company Stardust Promotion.

The Shukan Bunshun voters really like to kick a girl when she's down.

Otherwise, perennial least-favorites took their normal positions at the top: Actress Akiko Wada came in at number two, TV host Masami Kumamoto at number three and angry fortune-teller Kazuko Hosoki at number five.

Noriko Sakai came in at number four this year. Apparently, the adage "any publicity is good publicity" doesn't work when trying to curry favor with Japanese women. Same goes for recently divorced Norika Fujiwara, who hit number eight after successfully dodging a place on the list last year.
