2. The colours of the doodle are in sync with Google's official logo colours - blue, red, yellow and green.

3. Schumann and her children stand in place of the two O's and the second G of the Google logo.

4. Born on 13 September 1819, Clara Schumann was raised by her father. Her parents divorced when Clara was only four years old.

5. In March 1828, whe she was eight years old, Clara performed at the Leipzig home of Dr Ernst Carus, director of a mental hospital at Colditz Castle, and met Robert Schumann, who was nine years older than her. Schumann admired Clara's performance and so much that he asked permission from his mother to discontinue his studies of the law, and take music lessons with Clara's father, Friedrich Wieck. She later married him.

6. Clara made her public debut in a concert in the Leipziger Gewandhaus at the age of 9. She was acknowledged throughout Europe as a phenomenally talented child prodigy. She was also instrumental in transforming the kind of programs expected of concert pianists.

7. At the age of 18, Clara Wieck performed a series of recitals in Vienna from December 1837 to April 1838. Clara Schumann's reputation brought her into contact with the leading musicians of the day.

8. In 1839, Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck wrote a petition to the Court of Appeals to marry without the consent of Friedrich Wieck. They got married on September 12, a day before her 21st birthday.

9. Her family life was hit by tragedy. Four of her eight children and her husband predeceased her, and her husband and one of her sons ended their lives in insane asylums.

10. She herself became deaf in her later life. She often would need a wheelchair. Clara suffered a stroke on 26 March 1896, and died on May 20 at the age of 76.

LOS ANGELES -- Rihanna and Chris Brown, who split in 2009 after a domestic violence incident, are back together again -- at least musically speaking.

They've released not one, but two, remixes together.

On Monday, Brown tweeted out a remixed version of his song "Turn Up the Music" that features Rihanna's vocals. Rihanna later retweeted the post.

Rihanna also tweeted a remix of her song, "Birthday Cake" that features Chris Brown.

Orlando Dunkman: Make him shoot, pass and of course dunk!

Brown pleaded guilty to a felony charge for attacking Rihanna, who was his girlfriend at the time, at a pre-Grammy party in 2009.

He's currently serving five years of probation.

Brown had been ordered to stay 50 yards away from Rihanna, but last year, a judge eased the restraining order.

He reduced it to 10 yards if they were both at a music industry event.

Rihanna has said she is no longer angry at Brown and is a fan of his music.

Brown tweeted Rihanna well wishes for her 24th birthday, which was on Monday.

Rihanna retweeted the message from Brown, saying: 'Thanks! RT @chrisbrown: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN!'

Brown performed at this year's Grammy Awards, his first appearance there in three years.

He also took home an award for best R&B album.

Reps for Rihanna and Brown have not commented on their collaborations. ... READ MORE

Talking exclusively to MTV News following the premiere of her new video for "Safe & Sound" from "The Hunger Games," Taylor Swift revealed that the clip contains several references to the best-selling YA book series that fans should recognize.

"I felt like I was really needing to pay tribute to this movie and tell this story," Swift said. "There's this moment in the music video where I find this mockingjay pin and hold it up."

For those who have not read the books, the mockingjay pin is one of the most iconic symbols from the series. It was given to the main character, Katniss Everdeen (played in the film by Jennifer Lawrence), as a token to take into the arena to remind her of her Home, District 12.

The mockingjay and the pin itself are both symbols of rebellion in the books. The mockingjay is a species of bird inadvertently bred when the Capitol released "jabberjays" throughout the nation of Panem in an attempt to spy on its citizens. After the mission failed and the citizens of Panem learned how to feed lies to Capitol spies through the jabberjays, the Capitol ended the project, but the birds bred with mockingbirds in the wild, creating the mockingjay, which the Capitol was never able to eradicate.

We won't spoil the rest, but the third book in the series is titled "Mockingjay," and that isn't just a reference to the bird or the pin anymore.

"Having a music video with that much symbolism in it is something I'm not used to," Swift continued. "Everyone who is a 'Hunger Games' fans knows what it means when there's fire in the trees and they know what it means for the house to be burnt and they know what it means for the 'Hunger Games' pin to be covered in rust and old. Everybody can take their own meaning away from it, but it all goes back to the symbolism of the book."

To avoid spoiling the books and film, the only bit here that we'll address are the burning trees, which can be seen throughout Swift's video and briefly in the film's second trailer. In the arena, the Gamesmakers use fire to keep the tributes from hiding in trees and to push groups of them into the same area so they can fight to the death for all to see.

Swift's "Safe & Sound" video has us psyched for the release of "The Hunger Games," due March 23. "I'm now sort of like an infomercial for it," Swift, a fan of the books, joked to MTV News about the series.

Celebrity websites are claiming that the 48-year-old may have drowned in the bath and that while there were no illegal drugs in her room there were pills nearby.

She was said to have been found by one of her entourage in the bath and when she showed no signs of life they called the emergency services.

Paramedics arriving on the scene at the Beverly Hilton Hotel tried to resuscitate her for 20 minutes but it did not work and she was pronounced dead at 3.55pm.

The details were revealed by the TMZ website which claims to have spoken to hotel employees and to the police on the scene.

Their sources said there was no obvious signs of foul play, but the Beverley Hills police were carrying out a full investigation

The death of the 48-year-old Grammy award-winning star, who was one of the world's bestselling artists in the 1980s and 1990s, was confirmed by her publicist, leaving the entertainment industry and fans around the world in shock.

Los Angeles police said the troubled singer, who had battled with drug addiction, was found in her hotel room on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton late yesterday.

Detectives said paramedics unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate the singer, who was pronounced dead at 3.55pm local time.

Houston was due to appear at the LA gala of music's biggest occasion – the Grammy Awards – later tonight and had also been at rehearsals for the show, coaching singers Brandy and Monica.

It is believed she had been due to perform at the annual pre-Grammy party of her long-time mentor, record producer Clive Davis, at the Beverly Hilton, but was found hours before it began.

Police said there were no "obvious signs" of any criminal intent in relation to Houston's death.

Lieutenant Mark Rosen, from Beverly Hills Police, told the BBC the star was pronounced dead at the hotel.

He said her family had been informed and the matter would be passed to the coroner following the police probe.

Organisers of the Grammys have said Houston will be remembered at tonight's awards in a tribute by Jennifer Hudson.

Following the news, fellow celebrities and contemporaries lined up to pay their respects, with describing the star as a "legend" and an "icon".

Mariah Carey, who recorded the duet When You Believe with Houston in 1998, said she was "heartbroken".

"Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston," she wrote on Twitter.

"My heartfelt condolences to Whitney's family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world.

"She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth."

Music mogul Simon Cowell described Houston as "one of the greatest singers of all time", and said he expected tonight's Grammys to become a tribute to the "trailblazer" and "legend".

He told Heart FM: " ... you have to remember a lot of the people who are going to be getting awards at the Grammys, they owe an awful lot of their success, I believe, to Whitney, because Whitney was a trailblazer. It's a night she deserves to be remembered fondly."

Houston appeared on the X Factor in Britain in 2009 following an invite from Cowell.

"We all knew that she had issues and I last met her when she came on X Factor in England when she was doing her comeback album and you could sense at the time there were a still few problems, but she was a delight to work with on the day, she was very professional, she was kind to everyone around her, she probably wasn't altogether there, but it was still Whitney Houston and you know that you are in a presence of a legend and I will never forget that day."

"There are so few people like her in the world. They are a rarefied breed, these are true superstar, legendary divas and I say divas in the nicest possible way. She had one of the greatest voices I have ever heard in my life, ever." ....READ MORE

Waldorf Astoria Shanghai – a legendary icon of social prestige and glamour – hosted the first-ever Shanghai International Debutante Ball

Reigniting a grand British social tradition in Shanghai, the inaugural Shanghai International Debutante Ball was held at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund on 7 January, 2012.

Waldorf Astoria Shanghai is inspired by the original Waldorf Astoria in New York, which has hosted the city’s glamorous high society at its annual Debutante Ball for over 50 years.

Thirteen specially invited young ladies from the United States, France, United Kingdom and Greater China made their high-society debut in the hotel’s opulent marble halls. The 2012 Debutantes, aged between 16 and 25, each come from prominent families around the world. As well as an esteemed lineage, they were selected according to their personal accomplishments and graceful demeanour. The two Chinese Debutantes were Vivien Lee from Hong Kong and Jen Hau from Taiwan.

A gourmet sit-down banquet for 160 VIP guests and Debutante family members was held in the Grand Ballroom of Waldorf Astoria Shanghai. Dressed in traditional white couture, the Debutantes then descended the hotel’s sweeping antique staircase to the Marble Foyer for the ceremony. This was followed by cake cutting and dancing late into the evening.

“The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai was the ideal venue to host our inaugural International Debutante Ball in Asia. The Waldorf Astoria name has been associated with Debutante Balls in New York and Europe for over half a century, and Waldorf Astoria Shanghai’s historic building has represented the pinnacle of British high-society in Shanghai since the early 1900s,” said Vivian Chow Wong, founder of the Shanghai International Debutante Ball.

The Shanghai International Debutante Ball is founded and managed by Vivian Chow Wong, creator of the May Ball, the only ball brand in China. An extension of the traditions and etiquettes of British Debutante Balls dating back to 1780, the Shanghai International Debutante Ball has the full backing of authorities on British upper-class social culture, and was overseen by official Choreographers and Directors of Protocol. Esteemed high-society leaders, and former debutantes, Jennie Hallam-Peel and Patricia Woodall were the 2012 Ball’s Officiating Guests of Honour.

The 2012 Debutante Ball was sponsored by Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund, KOTUR handbags and image creation consultant, Kim Robinson.... READ MORE

Shu Qi feels character vicious, gentle and sexy all in one 2012

The Gordon Chan Ka Seung produced, Carol Lai Miu Shuet directed, Shu Qi and Shawn Yue Man Lok starred romantic thriller THE SECOND WOMAN (CHING MAI) will be released on March 8. Shu Qi in the film played two characters, a pair of twins who both fell for Yue Man Lok and into a immoral love triangle. Shu Qi in the film was vicious, gentle and sexy all in one. Earlier she admitted that making THE SECOND WOMAN absolutely was not easy, for a period she could not pull herself out.

Shu Qi earlier posted a “shedding tear” photo online. She thought that eyes that were swollen from crying looked great. She said, “Eye drops can be used in crying scenes! Yet it has no way to reach the condition of red eyes and nose, so I still cry on my own.” In the film she played twin sisters who both fell for Yue Man Lok’s stage actor. She admitted that both characters tragically tortured her, as the older sister’s voice and tone would come out suddenly through the younger sister. She could only discuss with the director to first finish one before shooting the other. Otherwise she could not perform.

Shu Qi is a Golden Horse Award winning Best Actress and made many outstanding films. She pointed out that now good characters are fun characters. She would not deliberately think of any hardship or challenge for herself. Instead she wanted to play, so her movies did not have to be high technical.... READ MORE

K-pop targeting American market on 2012

K-pop targeting American market on 2012

lifestyle,lifes,women,scandals,celebritys,artist,wife,family,politicians,married,bisnis,onlines,vids,pics,magazine,arts

K-pop stars have proven their influence in Asia — most of them taking their first steps entering the Japanese pop music scene.

Encouraged by the success in the neighboring country, the agencies — SM, JYP, and YG — are looking to the United States. Or rather, the agencies are once again eying the American market.

Surely, there exists a teen-driven market for stars like Justin Bieber and Senela Gomez. Still, even that niche is difficult to crack into, as seen in the case of BoA of SM and Wonder Girls of JYP. Yet the failed attempts are not stopping the star makers who are preparing to play the American game once again this year.

BoA pioneered the exporting of home-bred artists in 2001 with the Japanese version of her debut album “ID Peace B.” It took her a while to become a star in the island nation -she spent most of her career in Japan much to the Korean fans’ despair. SM tried to make BoA a star in America in 2009 with the album “Eat You Up.” Though the press and the agency hyped things up for the album and the music video’s release, the talk died down quietly — whether BoA was even noticed is questionable.

SM recently flaunted that Girls’ Generation got on the plane Monday to meet with multiple press like the Associated Press and E in America.

The group will appear on the “Late Show with David Letterman” at 1:35 p.m. today (KST) as well as “LIVE! with Kelly” at 11 p.m.

Though Girls’ Generation has been successful at translating the catchiness of their songs in Japanese versions, the English versions of their songs are ambiguous like the line in their title track, “The Boys,” which goes “Call all emergency; I’m watching the phone ring.”

The album ranked 22nd out of 25 albums on the Heatseekers Album chart on Billboard.

JYP, led by singer-songwriter Park Jin-young, has been channeling its American dream into the five-member Wonder Girls. Yet, the group’s ability to succeed in America is still dubious. In November, the artists came back to Korea briefly to release their official second album “Wonder World.” On various talk shows, the members confessed difficulty in learning English.

But the group is knocking on the door of the U.S. market once again. The group’s made-for-TV movie “The Wonder Girls” will premier on Feb. 2 on Teen Nick, a channel for teens. The movie will star a local girl group School Gyrl who also debuted with a movie on Nickelodeon, a TV channel for children. Little is known about School Gyrl outside their appearance on Nickelodeon.

Popular culture critic and professor at Kyonggi University, Jin Jong-hoon, told The Korea Times that K-pop is neglecting great marketing channels — global firms like Samsung and Hyundai are ubiquitous in America.

“K-pop artists can act as the promotional faces for global firms to benefit from collaboration,” Jin said. “Many people are well-aware of the products of such companies but honestly some are still confused whether they are Korean or Japanese.” By featuring in advertisements or campaigns with corporations who already aggressively target the United States, Jin believes K-pop artists can effectively approach the American audience.

Jin admits that K-pop artists are not likely to join the mainstream U.S. music scene. However, he believes K-pop can appeal to specific listeners who are seeking for alternatives similar to their performance in Europe. “K-pop will most likely be received as a temporary uniqueness.” According to Jin, to influence a culture, a newcomer must present advanced content and whether K-pop can offer that to American culture is questionable

Jung Duk-hyun, a culture critic, thinks music agencies’ efforts to tackle the global market deserve credit. “J-pop quickly demised because its suppliers relied on the domestic market. Japan has a substantial market already that the producers only target Japan.

However, makers of K-pop, well aware of the limited domestic consumption, have their eyes on the international market when they produce the songs and choreograph the dances. ”

Jung, like Jin, doesn’t believe that K-pop will become the next big sensation in America. “The artists are particularly well received in Southeast Asia because they are considered cultural products from ‘more developed’ countries, but this will not be the reaction in America.”... READ MORE

Shocking accusations were made earlier that former Miss Hong Kong's second runner-up, Noel Leung had been cheating on her husband, Hong Kong actor Gary Chan for a restaurateur named Brian Wong.

Based on TVB News World, Noel stressed that the two were just classmates – treating the false allegations as if it was a joke. Her husband had also responded through a text message sharing that the couple had mutual trust in each other.

Such rumours shocked many artists as Noel had been said to possess a 'good wife' and motherly image. Two days ago, the former pageant contestant came forward and said, "I'm very surprised! In my 22-year career, this was the first time I graced tabloid covers!" while also stating her reasoning of not responding earlier was due to her busy schedule.

The 43-year-old had not expected such tale on herself to be published when she realised tabloid photographers capturing images of her. "We went to the same class. All the students get along very well. Brian's restaurant in the Central district is the place where we often gather together," she explained.

Rumours that she and Brian had entered the storage room together were also untrue; as claimed by the Macau-born actress. Showing little knowledge of Brian's Weibo blog post and allegations of flirtatious messages with the restaurateur, Noel had publicized that she will not end her friendship with Brian over some petty rumours.

"I'm a very warm person. In my 22-year career, I have never had this kind of rumour. I feel that linking arms and hugging are normal friendly behaviour, but you may feel surprised," said Noel adding that she had a healthy understanding with her husband, Gary Chan.... READ MORE

alyssa bustamante punished with life in prison with the possibility of parole

lifestyle,lifes,women,scandals,celebritys,artist,wife,family,politicians,married,bisnis,onlines,vids,pics,magazine,arts

When Alyssa Bustamante committed brutal murder she was just 15-yearsold. Some people have wondered if a juvenile committed the crime, or an adult.

No parent would ever suggest that their 15-year-old is an adult. But, in the eyes of the justice system and the victim's family, a child isn't a child any more when a murder is committed. NewsChannel 5's Art Holliday spoke to a local attorney about crime, punishment, and rehabilitation, and how complicated it gets when children are punished like adults.

"In her own words premeditated, thought out, she thought about it she wrote about it, she seemed to enjoy it based upon her own words. Then it's a simple equation for people, she should be punished severely for that crime," said Attorney Paul D'Agrosa.

And Alyssa Bustamante will be severely punished with life in prison with the possibility of parole.

D'Agrosa wonders about the psychiatric treatment Bustamante may or may not receive while incarcerated.

"Is society better served by putting her in a juvenile justice facility where she will be institutionalized and treated and rehabilitated and apparently her mental issues dealt with? I would say in a lot of cases yes, but when you're talking about murder most people would say no," said D'Agrosa. "When a vicious crime is committed by a young offender, society struggles with what to do. Should a 15-year-old who murders be punished like an adult? Should society's response be different for a juvenile offender? These are not easy questions to answer."

But what about when it's a child who murders another child? How could someone so young do something so horrible? Those are the questions many of us are asking.

"Some would say that's easy to figure out. Punish her, send her to prison for as long as possible. Don't worry about what happens later on in her life. I don't take that view and a lot of people don't in the criminal justice system," said D'Agrosa.

There was one issue D'Agrosa kept coming back to; because Bustamante could be paroled at some point, her long term future will depend on what kind of psychiatric care she'll receive behind bars... READ MORE
