Korean Grand Prix qualifying Live

Korean Grand Prix qualifying Live

BBC Sport's Sarah Holt in Yeongam: "Who wants to see a close qualifying battle today? Rain and then a stubborn Jamie Alguersuari meant the man to beat, Sebastian Vettel, hasn't shown his hand yet. Red Bull's double world champ is chasing his 14th pole position, which would equal the record for a season set by Nigel Mansell for Williams in 1992. McLaren ran Red Bull close at the last race in Suzuka, even though Lewis Hamilton ran out of time to set a second fast lap, and they have shown some pace in mixed conditions in practice. Fernando Alonso, who won in Korea last year, was hanging onto the coat tails of the McLarens and Mark Webber's Red Bull in final practice but he reckons the Ferrari's inability to warm up its tyres quickly over a single lap could hamper them in the fight for pole."

BBC F1 co-commentator David Coulthard, watching the Red Bull mechanics busy at work on Sebastian Vettel's car, invents a new verb: "These guys have no check lists, it's all done from memory. It's like synchronised mechanic-ing before the cars go out."... READ MORE

Injured Detroit Tigers Delmon Young and Victor Martinez are in the lineup for Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against Texas this afternoon at Comerica Park.

The game, scheduled to start at 4:19 p.m., was delayed two hours by rain. Texas leads the best-of-seven series, 2-1.

Here is the Tigers' starting lineup. Left-hander Matt Harrison is scheduled to start for Texas:

1. Austin Jackson, CF
2. Ryan Raburn, RF
3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
4. Victor Martinez, DH
5. Delmon Young, LF
6. Alex Avila, C
7. Jhonny Peralta, SS
8. Ramon Santiago, 2B
9. Brandon Inge, 3B

Starting pitcher: Rick Porcello

Earlier this afternoon, manager Jim Leyland said, "It looks like Victor is a ‘go,’ and Delmon is a question mark."

• Related: Alex Avila also hurting

Martinez suffered what was called a strained intercostal muscle during Game 3. Martinez appeared to incur the injury while hitting a fourth-inning home run.

Young has an unusual championship series chronology:

• Saturday: The club left Young off the championship series roster because of the strained oblique muscle he suffered in the final game of the first-round series against the New York Yankees.

• Sunday: With Magglio Ordoñez lost for the series with a broken ankle, and with Young feeling better, the club added him to the roster in Ordoñez’s place.

• Monday: In Game 2, Young went 0-for-4 with two lineouts.

• Tuesday: Young couldn’t play in Game 3 because he was stiff and sore.

• Today: Batting fifth, it marks the first time in his two months with the Tigers that he has started anywhere but in the No. 3 spot.

Cabrera moved from cleanup to No. 3 in the two playoff games Young has missed and remained there today.

Notes: Leyland was hoping to avoid using setup man Joaquin Benoit on Tuesday. "I was trying desperately to bleed the eighth inning out of (starter Doug) Fister last night. I didn’t quite get it." Leyland lifted Fister with one out. Benoit came in and got the final two outs of the eighth. Benoit threw 10 pitches. ... Leyland, on struggling Jackson getting three hits in Game 3: “He stayed in the middle of the field better.” ... Former Tiger and 1984 World Series champion Lou Whitaker will throw out the first pitch prior to Game 5 on Thursday. The national anthem will be performed by the Four Tops. ... READ MORE

Brady Quinn is the Best Boyfriend Tweets Alicia Sacramone scandals

Denver Broncos’ QB Kyle Orton imploded Sunday, and was replaced by Tim Tebow. It’s a bit surprising Brady Quinn didn’t get the call – at times, Quinn outplayed Tebow in the preseason – but at 1-4, it’s all about trying to get fans into the stadium to watch a bad team, so Tebow makes sense. I wonder – if Brady Quinn had replaced Orton, would he still have hopped on the red eye to be by the side of Alicia Sacramone, his girlfriend, for her surgery in Charlotte?

Of course, it is entirely possible that Quinn had booked the ticket in advance – the Broncos do have a bye next week – because he hadn’t anticipated Kyle Orton turning into the below-average QB he was in Chicago.
