Celebrity go casual for the People's Choice on 2012

No Kardashians and no Katy Perry made for a quiet start to 2012 at the People's Choice Awards.
A dressed-down crowd including, Twilight star Robert Pattinson in jeans and Crazy, Stupid, Love's Emma Stone in a t-shirt, skipped the red carpet at the first awards show of the season at the Nokia Theatre in LA.
The awards, which are determined by public votes, were hosted by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco, who got through 27 wardrobe changes after fending off veteran awards show master of ceremonies Neil Patrick Harris, who stormed the stage during the opening to perform a show tune.
Hugh Jackman took out the statuette for the Best Action Movie Star while Ellen DeGeneres was awarded favourite daytime TV host.
Soon after Emma Stone accepted her awards for Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Comedic Actress, Jim Carrey's ex-wife Jenny McCarthy took to Twitter, "Emma Stone just won a People's Choice Award. I know someone that must be very excited about that" she posted in reference to Carrey declaring his love for the titian haired actress via video message last year.
Katy Perry, who pulled out of appearing, won five of the seven awards she was nominated for including Favourite Female Artist and also took out Favourite TV Guest Star for her cameo appearance in How I Met Your Mother.
Other winners included Glee star Lea Michele, Taylor Swift and the final Harry Potter instalment Part 2: Deathly Hallows won four awards, including Best Movie.
Rihanna trumped her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown and close friend Beyonce by taking out the gong for Best R&B Artist while Kim Kardashian took out the award for Favourite Celebreality Star.
Fellow nominee in the same category, Kathy Griffin didn't waste any time with pleasantries telling reporters on the red carpet that Kardashian's ex-husband Kris Humphries will "come back big in 2012 by dating Kendall Jenner."
On the cusp of turning 90, Hot In Cleveland star Betty White lapped up the praise from her celebrity fans all night with a number of A-listers, including Pattinson, lining up to have their photo taken with the veteran actress.
"I didn't do anything. 90 just happens to you," she said as she accepted the award for Favourite Cable TV Comedy.
Country singer Faith Hill and ex-Disney star and Best Pop Artist winner Demi Lovato performed in front of the casually clad crowd.... READ MORE
