Daria Strokous, the Russian 21-year-old model who opened Jil Sander S/S 2012 show, has recently made her way to Hollywood’s big screenShe was given a small part in the movie Contagion, directed by Steven Sodebergh, alongside with stars like Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Gyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.
Irina Modelskova, her character, is a London-based supermodel from Ukraine that gets infected by the lethal virus the movie goes about.
Daria has also played a leading role as Tessa in the mystery romance 2010 movie parAmor(directed by Paul L. R. Du Bois).
The model who also became a backstage photojournalist for vogue.com is now very interested in the movie industry. She wants to learn it all from film-producing to acting, justifying that “acting is so useful when it comes to modeling, especially haute couture”. This multi-talented girl goes further saying: “one day I may be asked to pose as an eighteenth-century duchess and I want to instantly embody that character.”
One thing is for sure: she knows what she wants and how to get that.
